Manchester United started the game excellently and were denied an equalizing goal near half-time. When Marcus Rashford dribbled down to the left, climbed the baseline and flicked the ball in front of goal. Have Rasmus Hojlund send the ball into the net, but when checking VAR, it was found that the ball had already gone behind. At the end of the first half, Manchester United trailed Brighton 0-1, but Brighton were the dominant team throughout the game and De Zerbi praised his players for sticking to their ufabet game plan.

“We played a really great game. We deserved the victory. We played well,” De Zerbi said after the game. “In the first 15, 20 minutes we were really struggling because Manchester United played in a different way than we had prepared. But then we had a great game. “ I think the game changed when we kept the ball. During that time, their pressure was very strong. And keeping the ball helps us control the game. Then we have four attackers who are very fast and very good.”

“We have to keep our style when we’re behind and when we’re ahead. We can’t forget our DNA because the game can change. And it’s bad when results can change our style. We are trying not to lose our individuality, our quality and score more goals. We scored three goals but there were many opportunities to score more.”

Gross also admitted that Brighton needed to adapt after United switched to a new tactic early in the game “I think we need to organize ourselves a bit at the start of the game. Because they play a different way than they normally play,” Gross said. “And once we solve that problem, I think we played better defensively. And when we have the ball, we control the game. We have space to play, suitable free space. And we are dangerous offensively.”
